State Final Certification (Государственная Итоговая Аттестация)
Государственная итоговая аттестация (ГИА), or State Final Certification, is a mandatory exam that all students in Russia must pass in order to graduate from primary (9th grade) and secondary (11th grade) school. The GИА is administered by the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Рособрнадзор).
Syllabus:-
The syllabus for the GИА is based on the Federal State Educational Standards (ФГОС) for primary and secondary education. The syllabus for each subject includes the following components:
⚫ Content: The content of the syllabus includes the knowledge and skills that students are expected to have mastered by the end of primary or secondary school.
⚫ Assessment: The syllabus includes the criteria that will be used to assess student performance on the GИА.
Pattern-
⚫ The GИА is a standardized exam that is administered in a single session. The exam is scored on a scale of 1 to 100, with a passing score of at least 60.
Primary School (9th Grade)
Students in the 9th grade must pass two GИА exams:
⚫ Русский язык (Russian language)
⚫ Математика (Mathematics)
Secondary School (11th Grade)
Students in the 11th grade must pass four GИА exams:
⚫ Русский язык (Russian language)
⚫ Математика (Mathematics)
⚫ История (History)
⚫ Обществознание (Social studies)
In addition to these four core exams, students may also choose to take the GИА in other subjects, such as foreign languages, science, or the arts.
Retake:-
⚫ Students who do not pass the GИА in one subject may retake the exam in the following year. However, students who do not pass the GИА in more than one subject will not be able to graduate from school.
Special Considerations:-
⚫ Students with disabilities or other special needs may be eligible for accommodations on the GИА. These accommodations may include extended time, a quiet testing environment, or the use of assistive technology.
Conclusion:-
⚫ The GИА is an important exam that plays a significant role in the Russian education system. The exam is designed to assess student mastery of the knowledge and skills that are essential for success in further education and employment.
