Japanese Teaching Proficiency Test (JTP)


The Japanese Teaching Proficiency Test (JTP) is an examination administered by the Japan Educational Exchanges and Services (JEES) to assess the competence of non-native speakers of Japanese who wish to teach Japanese as a foreign language in Japan.

Test Format:
⚫ The JTP is conducted twice a year, in June and November.

The test is divided into three sections:
⚫ Written Section (180 minutes):
⚫ Essay writing (in Japanese) on a given topic related to Japanese language education.
⚫ Multiple-choice and short-answer questions on Japanese linguistics, pedagogy, and culture.

Listening Section (40 minutes):
⚫ Comprehension of lectures and conversations on educational and cultural topics.

Speaking Section (20 minutes):
