CA Foundation Exam
The CA Foundation exam is the entry point for the Chartered Accountancy course in India. It is conducted twice a year by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI).
Syllabus:
The CA Foundation exam consists of four papers:
⚫ Paper 1: Principles and Practice of Accounting (100 marks)
⚫ Paper 2: Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting (100 marks)
⚫ Paper 3: Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning and Statistics (100 marks)
⚫ Paper 4: Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge (100 marks)
Exam Pattern:
⚫ Papers 1 and 2 are subjective type papers, each carrying 100 marks.
⚫ Papers 3 and 4 are objective type papers, each carrying 100 marks.
⚫ There is negative marking for incorrect answers in Papers 3 and 4. One-fourth mark is deducted for each wrong answer.
⚫ The exam is conducted for a total of 400 marks, with each paper carrying 100 marks.
⚫ The duration of each paper is 3 hours.

Paper 1: Principles and Practice of Accounting
⚫ This paper covers the basics of accounting, including accounting concepts, principles, and conventions, journalizing, ledger posting, trial balance, final accounts, etc.
Paper 2: Business Laws and Business Correspondence and Reporting
⚫ This paper covers the basics of business law, including the Indian Contract Act, the Sale of Goods Act, the Negotiable Instruments Act, the Companies Act, etc.
⚫ It also covers business correspondence and reporting, including the writing of business letters, emails, and reports.
Paper 3: Business Mathematics, Logical Reasoning and Statistics
⚫ This paper covers the basics of business mathematics, logical reasoning, and statistics.
⚫ The business mathematics section covers topics such as ratio and proportion, indices and logarithms, equations, etc.
⚫ The logical reasoning section covers topics such as syllogisms, critical reasoning, etc.
⚫ The statistics section covers topics such as measures of central tendency, measures of dispersion, correlation, regression, etc.
Paper 4: Business Economics and Business and Commercial Knowledge
⚫ This paper covers the basics of business economics, including microeconomics, macroeconomics, money and banking, international trade, etc.
⚫ It also covers business and commercial knowledge, including the Indian economy, business organization, marketing, finance, human resource management, etc.
